How to help your favourite restaurants during COVID-19

When the virus hit, when the restrictions came, there was much panic.

But now we seemed to have settled into a ‘new normal’.

However our beloved food and drink providers, that have brought us so much joy, are feeling it.

Many have been resourceful, pivoting to new takeaway menus and their own delivery options.

And we are all too eager to keep supporting them.

But it can come at a price.

The Sauce

Did you know that the delivery partners, such as Deliveroo and Uber Eats, can take up to 38% on orders?

When you break it down, you really get to see how much that can hurt a business.

Especially after they have already offered discounts to woo customers in.

As you can see, an order of $220 via Deliveroo, means the restaurant gets less than half of that.

This was a situation even last year - as reported in Sydney Morning Herald

So what’s the best course of action?

Don’t head to Uber Eats, or Deliveroo.

If your favourite restaurant or cafe is offering pick up, or direct delivery through their own services, do that.

The money goes straight into their pocket.

You can call them, or search their website, socials.

Or you can download The Sauce.

We’ve pulled together an easy to use app (Eastern Suburbs) of restaurants and cafes offering pick up, and direct delivery, during this time.

So support your favourite restaurant, get ordering and eating!
